  • a PC running Windows XP or Vista,
  • a webcam installed and working on your PC (see user-tested webcams)
  • lots of light in your workplace,
  • a wide variety of solidly-colored objects to use as controllers, and
  • the burning desire to play any game you want with CamSpace!!

Installing CamSpace

CamSpace is a freeware program. in order to install CamSpace go to: http://www.camspace.com/downloads and press the download button.

The current version of CamSpace is Open BETA 7.

Locking

Locking on an object is a simple procedure that teaches CamSpace what object or objects should be tracked. It consists of three steps:

  1. Removing the object from the webcam's field of vision
  2. Activating the Locking process
  3. Moving the object into the specified target area

If you have trouble with locking, please see the Right and Wrong page.

Loading Emulations (Game Controllers and CamGames)

Emulations divide into two categories: Game Controllers and CamGames. Game controllers are used to control external games while CamGames are fully-featured 2D games themselves.

A Game Controller is a set of instructions for CamSpace that allows you emulate the keyboard, mouse and joystick to play any game. Each Game Controller is written for a specific game, with a specific configuration. For more information on making your own Game Controllers, please visit the Emulation Authoring portal.

Game Controllers are designed to load automatically when certain programs are run on your computer. For this to work correctly, you need the CamSpace Agent to run. You can tell if the CamSpace Agent is running by the small CamSpace icon in your Windows Tray. If it is not running, you can run it from the Windows Start Menu (Start->All Programs->CamSpace->CamSpace Agent).

You can load a Game Controller or a CamGame manually by right-clicking the main CamSpace video window (the OSD), selecting Load Emulation From File. This will allow you to select a .camspace file to load. Similarly, you may double-click a .camspace file in your CamSpace Games folder.

  • Remember to push the "Play/Pause" button.
